Swansea Bay Oyster Restoration Plan

This year, MarineSpace and Dr Ruth Callaway of the Biosciences Department Swansea University, have been developing the Swansea Native Oysters Restoration Plan for Cyngor Abertawe/Swansea Council, building on the existing work undertaken by the Swansea Bay Fisheries Local Action Group (SBFLAG).

In development of the Plan, an Advisory Group (AG) has been set up that includes relevant scientific and socio-economic expertise, and local knowledge from a range of stakeholders. To date, the AG has provided invaluable support and engagement at key project stages, including advice on the baseline and options appraisal for ecological restoration techniques suitable for Swansea Bay.

The Plan will not only outline restoration techniques, but also the shore‑side cultural heritage aspects of this initiative that will be an important alignment with the Welsh National Marine Plan and the Well-being of Future Generation (Wales) Act 2016 Well-being Goals.

This project has received funding through the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, which is funded by the European Union and the Welsh Government.

Prosiect Newydd! Cynllun Adfer Wystrys Bae Abertawe

Eleni, mae MarineSpace a Dr Ruth Callaway o Adran Biowyddorau Prifysgol Abertawe wedi bod yn datblygu Cynllun Adfer Wystrys Brodorol Abertawe ar gyfer Cyngor Abertawe, a fydd yn adeiladu ar waith presennol a wneir gan Grŵp Gweithredu Lleol Pysgodfeydd Bae Abertawe (GGLlPBA).

Wrth ddatblygu’r cynllun, sefydlwyd Grŵp Cynghori (GC), sy’n cynnwys pobl ag arbenigedd gwyddonol ac economaidd-gymdeithasol perthnasol, a gwybodaeth leol gan amrywiaeth o randdeiliaid. Hyd yma, mae’r GC wedi darparu cefnogaeth a chyfranogaeth amhrisiadwy yn ystod camau allweddol y prosiect, gan gynnwys cyngor gwaelodlin ac arfarnu opsiynau ar gyfer technegau adfer ecolegol sy’n addas ar gyfer Bae Abertawe.

Bydd y cynllun yn amlinellu dulliau adfer ac agweddau treftadaeth ddiwylliannol glan môr ar y fenter hon, a fydd yn gyfliniad pwysig â Chynllun Morol Cenedlaethol Cymru a nodau llesiant Deddf Llesiant Cenedlaethau’r Dyfodol (Cymru) 2016.

Mae’r prosiect hwn wedi derbyn cyllid trwy’r Gronfa Forwrol a Physgodfeydd Ewropeaidd, a ariennir gan yr Undeb Ewropeaidd a Llywodraeth Cymru.
