MarineSpace’s expertise in the field of salt marsh restoration has recently been demonstrated through presentations at the ECSA Symposium on the Problems of Small Estuaries, and the Environment Agency’s Coastal Practitioner Workshop.
The ECSA Symposium was held at Swansea University over the 8th-11th April 2013 and was an international meeting with over 70 attendees. Dr Dafydd Lloyd Jones presented a talk entitled ‘Soft Intertidal Habitat Restoration: GIS and Multi Criteria Analysis as Assessment Tools’, co-authored with Dr Simon Bray and Dr Elizabeth Williams of the University of Southampton, and Dr Ilse Steyl of VistaSpatial. At the same meeting Stuart Lowe presented a talk on ‘Beneficial Use of Dredged Material for Saltmarsh Habitat Replenishment – a Case Study, Lymington Harbour, Hampshire’.
At the Environment Agency Coastal Practitioner Workshop on the 10th April 2012, Rob Langman presented results from the Lymington replenishment project during a talk on ‘Mitigation Measures – Vegetated Shingle and Saltmarsh Recharge’.
