MarineSpace Assists With London Array/BritNed Cable Crossing Consent

MarineSpace Ltd has recently completed an important piece of work related to scour remediation and protection works on the London Array offshore wind farm export cables.  The work was undertaken on behalf of London Array Limited, a consortium of three world-leading renewable energy companies – E.ON, DONG Energy, and Masdar – and international fund managers La Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (Caisse).  MarineSpace Ltd was requested to prepare an Environmental Assessment of the proposed works, with the subsequent report used to accompany consent applications by London Array Ltd for a Marine Licence (MMO) and a River Works Licence (PLA).

The study was completed against a very tight programme, and resulted in London Array Ltd being issued the respective consents within a matter of weeks following report submission.  This has enabled London Array Ltd to mobilise their contractor (VBMS) to start these important works without any delay.

Upon award of the project consents, the Project Manager for London Array Ltd said of the MarineSpace report, “The high quality of the document made sure we had very minimal comments from the authorities”.

The successful completion of this study demonstrates MarineSpace Ltd’s consent compliance expertise, and builds upon similar work by MarineSpace for other offshore wind farm projects, including Gunfleet Sands (TCP), Lincs and LID (Centrica).
