MarineSpace is delighted to announce that Chris Wheeler has joined the company as an Operations Manager!
After 10 years of offshore work as a successful Party Chief, Chris has finally taken the jump and transitioned to Operations Manager here at MarineSpace. Chris has worked on numerous survey acquisition projects, from Maritime and Coastguard Agency re-charting to full-spread geophysical surveys for the renewables and oil/gas industries; using the latest survey equipment the industry has to offer.
Chris started his offshore career as an online hydrographic surveyor, acquiring International Federation of Surveyors and the International Cartographic Association Cat A accreditation. He quickly developed an interest in the mechanical and electrical engineering side of offshore work and was able to cross-train; learning to service and fix faulty equipment, re-terminate armoured cables, and mobilise vessels for both hydrographic and geophysical projects.
Alongside data acquisition, Chris was an offshore health and safety representative, where he acted as a mediator between the office and offshore vessels, encouraging safe practises and reporting unsafe/no longer relevant procedures and incidents. With real-time project experience, Chris was able to review Risk Assessment and Method Statements and procedures to keep them current; allowing the office to constantly improve on their operations and keep their staff safe.
Chris has extensive knowledge of offshore operations and the logistics involved with moving personnel to and from projects. As a military veteran, Chris has brought his inexhaustible enthusiasm and drive to support our current and future operations.
